Viviane Hasler: CD Mélodies d’ailleurs
Mélodies d’ailleurs is the first joint album by Swiss soprano Viviane Hasler and her longtime friend and musical partner Maren Gamper. For this recording, the two artists have selected French songs from the turn of the 19th century, known in France and beyond as the Fin de Siècle period. Works by Claude Debussy, Ernest Chausson, Cécile Chaminade, and Reynaldo Hahn are contrasted with three songs by contemporary German composer Wolfgang Rihm, creating a concept album that is much more than just an anthology of romantic piano songs.
Viviane Hasler’s interpretation is fresh and tangible, never exaggerated or overly romanticized, remaining true and honest to the emotions of the original compositions. Pianist Maren Gamper, always in search of the perfect moment between the notes, creates an intimate yet deeply supportive soundscape for the voice.
Recorded in the grand hall of the Orchesterhaus in Kriens, Switzerland, this album seeks to open a small window in time, immersing itself in memories of a past era while connecting them with the vibrant present.

„Mélodies d’ailleurs“ ist das erste gemeinsame Album der Schweizer Sopranistin Viviane Hasler und ihrer langjährigen Freundin und musikalischen Partnerin Maren Gamper. Für dieses Album haben die beiden Künstlerinnen französische Lieder aus der Wende zum 19. Jahrhundert ausgewählt, die in Frankreich und darüber hinaus als „Fin de Siécle“ bekannt sind. Werke von Claude Debussy, Ernest Chausson, Cécile Chaminade und Reynaldo Hahn werden mit drei Liedern des zeitgenössischen deutschen Komponisten Wolfgang Rihm kontrastiert, wodurch ein Konzeptalbum entsteht, das weit mehr ist als nur eine Anthologie romantischer Klavierlieder.
Die Interpretation von Viviane Hasler ist frisch und greifbar, ohne zu übertreiben oder zu romantisieren, und bleibt den Emotionen der Originalkompositionen treu und ehrlich. Die Pianistin Maren Gamper, immer auf der Suche nach dem perfekten Moment zwischen den Tönen, schafft eine intime und doch zutiefst unterstützende Klangwelt für die Stimme.
