Eng verknüpft mit dem Erlernen der Spieltechnik ist das Eintauchen in das Lebensgefühl und das Zeitempfinden jener Epoche.
In the second generation, the son of Walter Gerwig takes us on a journey of discovery in his two volumes of the Lute School, exploring the fascinating world of the Renaissance and its polyphonic soundscape. Closely intertwined with learning the playing technique is the immersion into the lifestyle and the sense of time of that era.

Erst seit Herbst 2023 ist diese Website online. Es hat sich viel getan seitdem!
Erfreulich ist die Kontinuität, mit der der Verlag eigene Veröffentlichungen realisieren kann. Ganz aktuell erscheint die englische Übersetzung der Biografie über den Lautenisten Walter Gerwig, und passend dazu zwei Bände der Lautenschule seines Sohnes Kristian Gerwig.
Doch das ‚Repertoire‘ des Holzenburg Verlages soll sich künftig keineswegs auf Musik oder gar einen noch spezielleren Bereich innerhalb der Musik beschränken.
Als nächstes steht eine Notenausgabe von Walzern von Johannes Jendrek an, die es in einem Heft für Klavier und in einem anderen Heft für wahlweise eine oder zwei Gitarren geben wird.
Im Sommer und Herbst erscheinen dann die noch fehlenden Ausgaben der Lieder mit Gitarre sowie der zweite Band der Holzenburg Gitarrenschule.
Im Verkaufsbereich, also im Shop, hat sich besonders das Sortiment an Saiten für historische Instrumente, und da besonders im Bereich der Zupfinstrumente entwickelt, was mit dem Standort Basel und der Nähe zur Schola Cantorum Basiliensis zu erklären ist.
Hier soll das Sortiment nun gezielt in Richtung der Streichinstrumente sowie der klassischen Gitarre ausgeweitet werden.
Während bei den Noten bereits ein kleines und keineswegs vollständiges Grundsortiment angeboten wird stehen die Bücherregale noch fast komplett leer da.
Neu eingeführt wird nun die Bestellmöglichkeit für Bücher und Noten, nachdem der Holzenburg Verlag mit mehreren anderen Herausgebern und dem Grosshandel sowohl in der EU als auch in der Schweiz verbunden ist.
Über das Warenlager in der EU als auch in der Schweiz können bestellte Bücher, Noten und Saiten schnell und kostengünstig in alle Welt versendet werden.

This website has only been online since autumn 2023, and a lot has happened since then!
It’s gratifying to see the consistency with which the publisher can realize its own publications. Most recently, the English translation of the biography of lutenist Walter Gerwig has been published, along with two volumes of the lute school by his son Kristian Gerwig. However, the ‚repertoire‘ of Holzenburg Publishing House is by no means intended to be limited to music or even a more specialized area within music in the future.
Next up is a sheet music edition of waltzes by Johannes Jendrek, which will be available in one book for piano and another book for one or two guitars. In the summer and autumn, the remaining editions of songs with guitar and the second volume of the Holzenburg Guitar School will be published.
In the sales area, particularly in the shop, the range of strings for historical instruments, especially plucked instruments, has developed, which can be attributed to the location in Basel and its proximity to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. The range will now be specifically expanded to include bowed instruments and classical guitar.
While the sheet music section already offers a small and by no means complete basic assortment, the bookshelves are still almost completely empty. A new feature is the possibility to order books and sheet music, now that Holzenburg Publishing House is connected with several other publishers and wholesalers both in the EU and Switzerland. Through the warehouses in the EU and Switzerland, ordered books, sheet music, and strings can be shipped quickly and cost-effectively worldwide.
