Guitarists can play this instrument directly without any adjustments and interpret both original lute repertoire and music from all other eras.
The instrument is tuned like a guitar. The third string can optionally be tuned to either G or F#. The 7th and 8th strings can be set diatonically downward or adjusted to desired lower tones as needed.
