Jorge Sentieiro was born in Lisbon, Portugal. He studied the guitar and the lute at the conservatoire in his hometown, and literature at Lisbon University. Subsequently he moved to Basle, Switzerland where he studied the lute with Eugen Dombois and Hopkinson Smith. He began building lutes and guitars in 1998, following historical models and construction techniques. He lives in Basle, where he works as a luthier and as a guitar and lute teacher. Jorge Sentieiro wurde in Lissabon, Portugal geboren. Er hat Gitarre und Laute am Konserva-torium in seiner Heimatstadt studiert sowie Literatur an der Lissaboner Universität. Später hat er Laute bei Eugen Dombois und Hopkinson Smith an der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel in der Schweiz studiert. Seit 1998 baut er Lauten und Gitarren nach historischen Plänen und Bautechniken. Er wohnt in Basel, wo er als Instrumentenbauer und Lauten- und Gitarrenlehrer arbeitet.
