Commissioned by Michael Whight for Oscar Whight. Speakeasy is a sequence of five linked movements, each one being a loose variant or continuance of the one before. Boulevardier, Agro Dolce, Manhattan, Vesper, Forever Young. During ‘lockdown’, and in order to retain a vestige of sanity, a group of us met every Thursday for virtual ‘cocktails’ via Zoom. Speakeasy is, in part, a little memento for Dobrinka, Ben, Tansy, Clark, Lore, Daniel, Emily, Jo and Ailis – and the many others who popped in from time to time!
