New Nylgut® strings are distinguished by their gut-like colouring and have the same specific weight and acoustic qualities as natural gut strings (in other words, the gauges to be used are the same). New Nylgut® can be considered the first ‘synthetic’ version of gut. It is characterized by an extraordinary stability of intonation to changes in humidity and temperature, considered superior not only to gut but also to Nylon. New Nylgut® strings advantageously replace Nylon, but also gut in plucked instruments including modern harps. New Nylgut® is particularly suitable for the first 5 choirs of the Renaissance and Baroque Lute, including frets.
FIELD OF APPLICATION
The development of a new synthetic material that could imitate the acoustic characteristics of gut without possessing the typical defects such as high cost, low durability and instability to climate change has always been a key element of our research. New Nylgut® is the result of this research; the perfect synthesis between the mechanical and acoustic properties of Nylon and PVDF (carbon).
