This is a selection of music from French court ballets and operas, by Lully or Campra, which had a second life as chamber music, with tunes used in the dance instruction books published at the beginning of the 18th century, where they were printed with detailed choreographies. Original intabulations attributed to Gallot in the Balcarres Lute Book are supplemented with may more by Matthew Spring. These have been serialised in recent issues of Lute News, and now appear in a single volume for the convenience of the player. 6) ed.
